Cultural Marxism

Jan 07, 2016

Reprinted from a facebook post 5 June 2015:

It is time for us all to stop and take a deep breath, then do some serious thinking about where we're headed. The more we let our puppetmasters drive us into politicized factions that hate and fear each other, the sooner comes the destruction of modern life—the life that we all take for granted.

I saw a DelanceyPlace newsletter earlier today that quoted Jacques Barzun for the proposition that "decadence" is defined as "the widespread acceptance of key things known to be untrue". I'll be thinking about that for MONTHS, and will probably have to check out his book "From Dawn to Decadence" to find out more about what's on his mind. I get it, though, and that's about as good a summary as anything else I can come up with or anything else I've heard. "The widespread acceptance of key things known to be untrue." No shit. Nailed it.

Then this, the post below. "Society normalizing and promoting psychological disorders in order to deconstruct the culture they say is 'repressive'." Guys, our ancestors passing on the things they've learned in an effort to make our lives a little easier isn't "repressive" any more than a mother's not letting her child push a knife in an electrical outlet or eat dirt is "repressive". If we can't get our heads out of that junior high kid mentality of thinking that breaking our parents'/ancestors' rules makes us "cool", and what's really important is to be "cool", not "successful" or "healthy" or "leaving a better world than we inherited", then we're fucked. We and our children and our children's children, if that matters to anyone. We cannot continue to live in denial of things we know to be true.

And as long as both sides resort to government force to impose their views on the other side, instead of trying to reach a peaceful solution, the puppetmasters win. Like being a bank that lends to both sides in a war and makes money off of everybody, the government always wins and gains more power over all of us when we fight and expect the government to 'settle' it for us.

Time for us all to do some serious head scratching to see what we can do to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the culture wars, and to decide how much we're willing to sacrifice in short term gratification for long term success. Either that or we're going to run civilization as we know it right into the ground.
